I have symptoms that I know are unusual or problematic. Can I ever have a good life?
YES, many people experience psychosis and manage to reclaim their mental health and move forward in their lives.
Here are examples:
I get so stressed out during the day. What can I do to calm down?
At CALM we often talk about finding your Place of CALM. You may wish to go for a walk, play music, or do some light exercise or yardwork. Don’t give up! You may need to try different things until you find what works for you.
I need help. Can psychosis be treated?
Three decades of research shows that specialized treatment as early as possible after one’s first psychosis episode improves outcomes across the board. It is important for people to understand that treatment at a general mental health clinic is NOT the same as receiving specialized treatment.
CALM works in partnership with the Early Psychosis Interventioin Clinic (EPIC-NOLA), a Tulane University affiliated specialty care clinic for people experiencing psychosis. They help adolescents and young adults understand, manage, and cope with psychosis experiences in order to get back to their everyday lives.
