WHAT IS PSYCHOSIS
Psychosis can be the start of a serious mental illness. It involves losing touch with reality or not being able to tell what’s real or not real. Psychosis symptoms usually happen to people under the age of 35 and often to young people between 15 and 25.
People experience psychosis in different ways.
It can involve:
- Hallucinations – seeing or hearing
things that aren’t there - False Beliefs – Believing things they
know to be impossible - Mental Clarity – Feeling their mind is playing
tricks on them - Interests – Losing interest in things they
used to care about - Personality – Big changes in their personality
- Friends & Family – Pulling away from
friends and family - Personal Care – Not taking care of themselves
- School & Work – Suddenly doing worse at
school or work
